We all say we are never going be one of those crazy parents who live vicariously through our children. But if you have ever gone to any soccer, baseball, football, or basically any sporting game for youth, you will see dads living vicariously through their sons and I am not going to condemn them. I decided yesterday, when I was watching Ben out on that big stage dancing so elegantly floating almost, that I am okay with the fact that I am living vicariously through him. My mom used to work full time in Salt Lake City and on most days she didn't get home till 7:00p.m. and on good days she was home at 6:00p.m. not because she loved her job more than her children but she just was trying to scrape out a living for our family. But this meant we didn't take any lessons or play a sport at all. I never won a trophy in my whole life and man it feels good when my children do. Its a fun, fun thing to win. So I am going to brag about my Benny for just a minute. this school year he has won a silver ribbon a gold ribbon a gold metal and two first place trophy's. He has worked so hard and his hard work is paying off . Benny we are so proud.

YAYAYAYAY! That is so exciting, and I can't believe how casual he is making it. I just want to hug and kiss that cute boy!
I think I'll just make him cookies instead...less creepy...
Congratulations Ben! You are going to have to tell your mom we need a L.L. performance!
I know exactly what you mean Steph about living vicariously through your kids. Being the seventh of nine, I didn't do a whole lot either. My mom did not have the time. I do love watching my kids excel at things I never thought possible. SO FUN and SO REWARDING!
Way to go Ben. You are a good partner. I enjoyed ChaChaing the other night at the school dance.
Wow - thats so exciting - your kids are a reflection on you and even though those awards aren't directly yours they wouldn't be possible with out you!! Way to go - I say Mom of the Year Award!!
Wahoo!!! I loved this post. I totally agree that we do all live vicariously through our kids. I was a horrible, horrible dancer while all of my friends were on the drill team and cheerleaders and dancing away. And so it makes me so proud to see Kelsey have a few more ounces of coordination in her dance lessons than I did. I'm just half shocked and half amazed at where she got it from. It is so fun to see them doing well and also loving something.
Good job, Ben!!!
WOW!!That is amazing stuff-- of course you have to be busting with pride and it's ok to live vicariously through your kids as long as you're not obnoxious about it- and I don't think you are so alrighty then-- enjoy these moments and have fun with it just like you are :0)-congratulations Ben and Haley!!!!
That is so great! Congratulations to Ben!! What an awesome sport! I wish I could do something like that...Maybe us mom's should take up a new talent so we won't have to live through our kids!!
Congratulations!! I loved that you were teary on Sunday when you shared that Ben had won this competition- you are the sweetest and most devoted mom! And even if you are living vicariously- you are truly happy for them and encourage them in what they want to do. That's so okay!
Way to Go- both of you!
Steff your photo's look great. I really like the one with your mom and dad too. Ben IS a GREAT kid...and he is so cute about the dancing thing - very impressive for an eight year old. Now as for the trophy...do Haley and Ben have to fight for it or what? You might have to make a trophy case for that kid before long! :o)
I wish we could keep the trophy, but it goes on display in the school trophy case. All we get is the picture.
Holy Smokes! That is so awesome for Ben - and for you - vicarious Mom! You're so funny. I would love to see those two dance in our ward talent show this year! Congratulations! :)
